ANTHONY MARTIAL : MAN UTD SIGN MONACO FORWARD FOR £36M

Manchester United have completed the £36m signing of Monaco forward Anthony Martial, making him the world’s most expensive teenage footballer.


The fee could rise to £58m.

France Under-21 international Martial, who scored eight goals in 31 Ligue 1 games last season, signed a four-year deal with the option for a fifth year.


The 19-year-old, who had been linked with Arsenal, becomes United’s third most expensive signing after Angel Di Maria (£59.7m) and Juan Mata (£37.1m).


He was allowed to leave the France squad on Monday for a medical with Louis van Gaal’s side, who have given him the number nine shirt.


Monaco signed Martial for £4.4m two years ago from Lyon, who will receive about £7.35m as a result of a sell-on clause.


Conditions that would increase the fee include Martial winning the Ballon d’Or award for the world’s top footballer.
The previous world record transfer fee for a teenager was £27m, whichUnited paid for Southampton left-back Luke Shaw last summer and Paris St-Germain spent on Roma centre-back Marquinhos in 2013.


His signing came as Premier League spending passed £850m for the first time in a transfer window.

UNIVERSITY STUDENT LOST HIS LIFE IN A TRAGIC ACCIDENT IN ABUJA

A tragic accident that involved a Ford SUV in Abuja claimed the life of an unidentified undergraduate on Monday afternoon.

The ill-fated accident occurred on the expressway linking Wuse market to the National mosque around 3:00pm. A witness told Tiwasblog.com that an occupant of the suv died in the accident while two others were rushed to Gwarinpa hospital:

“They were four in the jeep, the car was speeding, it ran over the bridge and fell inside the ditch, it destroyed the bridge barrier and fell inside, a guy died instantly, the driver was unscratched, he only have a small cut on his palm,” he said.

“Two others were rushed to Gwarinpa hospital and I heard they were wheeled straight to the theatre, the boy that died is a friend from one of the guy they rushed to the hospital, the driver said he followed them home from school and they are trying to reach his parents now,” The man who identified himself as Musa narrated their ordeal to Us…

All efforts to get the Federal road safety corps (FRSC) members present at the scene to speak proved abortive as none of them was ready to speak to the press.

FEMALE STUDENT IN DELTA CAUGHT WITH EXPO IN HER PRIVATE PART

No fewer than six female students, one of them a final year student of the Department of Library and Information Science, Delta State University, Abraka, were last Friday caught with “expo materials” during examination.
An examiner identified as Sylvester Okiemute caught a final year female student of the Department of Library and Information Science with incriminating materials during an examination.
Sources said the student was caught while sitting for an exam on ‘Entrepreneurship and Information Services’ who had been observing her suspicious moves.
It was gathered that the examiner, convinced that the student was making reference to a paper he smuggled in, asked her to hand over the paper.
The girl denied and that led to a shouting match between the examiner and the student. It was gathered that the examiner dipped his hands into her private part recovered the incriminating materials.
Our source, who narrated the incident on condition of anonymity, said the student was earlier caught by another examiner and she pleaded with the examiner, who later pardoned her.
She was reportedly given another booklet to start over again, but was caught again, 45 minutes later.
