Family Cries Out As Baby Goes Missing Shortly After Being Born

A family in Ghana is furious over the body of their baby which according to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, died after it was born had gone missing.

The father of the baby, Solomon Boakye Ansah, a motor mechanic, said his wife Abigail Opoku, was rushed to the hospital in labour last Friday.
After some complication, his wife was unconscious after giving birth to the baby on Saturday night, according to him.

Ultimate News reports that the baby was kept away from her sick mother by the medics. The baby was kept the custody of the mother-inlaw.

But, the family got alarmed when the mother of the baby regained her strength on Wednesday and demanded to see her baby only to be told that the baby had died on Monday.

When the family inquired about the whereabouts of the body, they were told another family member whom they don’t know had come to sign documents for the baby to be taken to the mortuary.

The father of the baby however told Ultimate News the mortuary attendants have refused to allow him see the body with the excuse that the refrigerator had been locked.

Public relations officer of the Hospital Kofi Frimpong has however given assurances the hospital would immediately commence investigations into the matter.

Speaking on Abusua FM’s Abusua Nkommo with host Kwame Adinkra, he noted that the police will be brought in if they realise any foul play.

The matter is undergoing investigation.

In 2014, a similar case of a Suwaiba missing baby rocked the hospital.

The Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi, Ashanti Region, Ghana, is the second-largest hospital in Ghana, and the only tertiary health institution in the Ashanti Region.
