Reno Omokri To Expose How US, APC Removed Jonathan

A former special assistant to President Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri, has vowed to reveal how the United States conspired with the ruling APC to remove his former principal from office in 2015.

He said this in a 10 minute video he posted on his Facebook page Saturday night.

Recall that Jonathan in a book: “Against the Run of Play,” written by the Chairman of the Editorial Board of Thisday newspaper, Olusegun Adeniyi, alleged that United States President, Barack Obama connived with some world leaders, to push him out of office.

Reno Omokri’s threat came a few days after Babangida Aliyu, former Niger state governor and ex-chairman of the Northern Governors Forum, gave a hint of possible US involvement in the electoral defeat of Jonathan.

In the video, Omokri revealed that a US official, who was part of the meetings where his government colluded with some top members of the opposition, narrated how the meeting transpired.

“I have names of those who attended and dates, venues of the meetings.

“I will reveal in my book to be released in June but first I will give the manuscript for ex-President Goodluck Jonathan for his input.”

Omokri also said he was of the opinion that Jonathan should not have responded to comments made in Adeniyi’s book for now.

Former Jigawa State Governor, Sule Lamido Arrested

Men of the Nigerian Police Force, NPF, have reportedly arrested a former governor of Jigawa state, Sule Lamido.

According to reports, the former governor who was in power from 2007 to 2011 was arrested by the police on grounds of alleged incitement of his supporters to stop the conduct of local government elections being organised by the current governor, Muhammad Badaru.

The former state governor was according to report arrested this morning at his home in Sharada, Jigawa State.

Following Sule Lamido’s arrest, he was taken to the Zone one command of the state police where he is being detained and interrogated.

Aregbesola Sets Up Panel To Probe Adeleke’s Death

Osun State Governor, Mr. Rauf Aregbesola, has said the state government will set up a panel to probe the cause of the sudden death of Senator Isiaka Adeleke, who was a serving senator and the first civilian governor of the state.

This is contained in a statement made available to our correspondent in Osogbo on Sunday by the media aide to the governor, Mr. Semiu Okanlawon.

The governor described Adeleke as a man of peace, who he said defected from the Peoples Democratic Party ahead of the August 2014 governorship poll in the state because he could not stand violence.

The governor said the administration had planned a befitting state burial for the late politician but he said this was scuttled by some person ” crying more than the bereaved” who unleashed terror on dignitaries, who came to honour the departed soul.

The statement read, “Senator Adeleke was a man of peace. He preached peace and lived it through his life. He left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) because he could not stand violence.

This was after he was beaten up by some leaders of the PDP during a meeting in a hotel in Osogbo.

“It is a profound irony and most unfortunate therefore that a few disgruntled elements purporting to protest his death desecrated his funeral with violence and attacks on innocent persons.

They dishonoured him and did his memory a great disservice by keeping his friends, political associates and well-wishers away from his burial.

“The best we could do in the circumstance was to declare three days of mourning throughout the state and fly national, state and our party’s flags at half-mast in his honour.

“The State Government of Osun, using the instrumentality of the law, is setting up an inquest to unravel the circumstances of this unfortunate and sad incident, in order to put the record straight on his death.

“We continue to mourn the untimely death of Senator Isiaka Adetunji Adeleke. He is irreplaceable in our hearts. We commiserate with his family, the good people of Ede, associates, friends, constituents and generality of our people on the passage of this patriot.

As we pray for the repose of his soul, we equally pray for the strength to bear this heavy loss.”

Why Nigerians Should Stop Using Petrol, Kerosene – Kachikwu Reveals

The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr . Ibe Kachikwu, says the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, has reduced its importation of Premium Motor Spirit, otherwise known as petrol, from about 95 per cent to 50 per cent.

Kachikwu, who however, disclosed that the downstream and midstream sector continues to face challenges, urged Nigerians to start moving away from the use of products like petrol , kerosene and diesel to using liquefied petroleum gas .

The minister disclosed this in a podcast message posted on his Facebook page on Saturday.

He said; “The reality is that all over the world everybody is moving to cleaner fossils . LPG provides that for us , gas does the same for us . So we need to begin to look at how we can install pipelines for LPG and take it to places of its consumption, where we can have vehicles that have the capability to potentially use gas in order to reduce PMS usage.”

To achieve this , Kachikwu said the government would collaborate with stakeholders in the sector in order to effectively meet its long- term target in the sector.

The minister had noted that the government had eliminated subsidy payments to oil marketers substantially , but stressed that the downstream oil sector had continued to encounter challenges.

Kachikwu said; “There isn’ t fuel scarcity , we are not short of products , but yet the downstream and midstream sectors continue to remain challenged . And what we are going to do is to analyse what we have done so far and begin to throw solutions to some of these challenges .

“When we first moved in , we had refineries that were not producing, fuel subsidy issues of almost N15 bn monthly expenses, massive diversion of petroleum products across borders . We are consuming about 50 million litres of products at the time, but that substantially has reduced now .

“We had issues of pricing efficiency and governance, for at that time the prices we were selling at were so ridiculously below what the sustainable prices are. And you find a situation where basically marketers disappeared from the industry . So we had massive shortages, queues and everything seemed to be breaking down . We ’ ve since come out from that . ”

How Osinbajo Reacted When I Asked Him To Become Vice President – Tinubu

National leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has revealed that Yemi Osinbajo was ‘a bit hesitant’ when he (Tinubu) asked him to be President Muhammadu Buhari’s running mate in the 2015 presidential election.

“He was a bit hesitant as he asked me to go and tell Pastor Adeboye. I replied by telling him that he needed to inform Pastor Adeboye himself, after all, there had been times when if we needed to see Pastor Adeboye, he was the one who facilitated it.

“I reminded him that since the final choice was not for me to make, I should not go to Pastor Adeboye until after the announcement of his name.”, Tinubu said.

EFCC sued over N13bn discovered in Lagos

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has been sued over the N13billion that it discovered at Osbourne Towers in Ikoyi, Lagos state.

According to The Punch, the EFCC was dragged before a Federal High Court in Lagos by an activist lawyer Olukoya Ogungbeje.

Ogungbeje wants the court to suspend action on the forfeiture application filed by the anti-corruption agency until the EFCC has found out the owner of the money.

Ogungbeje is praying that the court order the EFCC to provide a report of its preliminary or final investigation on ownership of the monies and how the funds got into the building.

He also urged the court to order the EFCC and the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC) as well as the police force to start a thorough investigation of the recovered funds.

Ogungbeje said: “This honourable court has the inherent jurisdiction under Section 6 (6)(b) of the Constitution to order and direct thorough investigation of the sources of the monies, their owners, the owners of the Osborne Towers where the monies were found and how they got into the building.

“A thorough and transparent investigation of the monies will strengthen the anti-corruption crusade.

“Nigerians are interested in the sources, owners of the monies, owners of the building and how the monies got into Osborne Residential apartment.”

In a ruling on Thursday, April 13 afternoon, Justice Muslim Hassan of the Federal High Court in Lagos ordered that the funds be handed over to the Federal Government for now.

The judge then adjourned the matter till May 5, 2017 for anyone who wants to claim the funds and give reasons why it should not be permanently forfeited to the government to show up before him.

According to him, Ariyibi Ayomide, a 100 level Student of Unilag, Faculty of Business Administration – department of Employee Relations and Human Resources Management (ER & HRM), committed suicide after being disgraced by her roommates for allegedly stealing in her hostel.

“An incident happened in her room (Amina Hostel) which involved the missing of belongings (which includes make up and clothes) of another girl in d same room.
On Thursday, some of the belongings of d fellow room mate was found in Ayomide’s bag ( scattered in three different bags – make up in one of of her bag, clothes in another bag and clothes in another bag making 3 of Ayomide’s bag).

“As a result the roommates disgraced Ayo and called her many names( relating to a thief) and disgraced her publicly. Ayomide called her mum and her mum came down next day( Friday) to settle d issue. Bola Tinubu Opens Up On What He Will Be Revealing About Goodluck Jonathan In His New Book

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Tinubu, Friday, said he would publish a book detailing how the then incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan was defeated by the opposition APC.

The APC National Leader spoke at the launch of “Against the run of Play”, a book written by Olusegun Adeniyi, spokesperson to former President Umar Yar’adua, in Lagos.

Political analysts beleive Mr. Tinubu played a crucial role in the 2015 general elections, leading to the emergence of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Speaking at the event Friday, Mr. Tinubu, who spoke through his media aide, Tunde Rahman, disclosed that he would soon reveal how the APC merger culminated in the defeat of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), Premium Times reports.

“Asiwaju is also working on his own book to tell his account of what transpired,” Mr. Rahman said.

“To tell how he was able to mould the APC to the extent that it was able to unseat an incumbent president for the first time in the history of our contemporary politics.”

Commenting on the controversial vice-presidential slot, Mr. Rahman said he made a good choice by picking Yemi Osinbajo.

“That nomination (of Mr. Osinbajo) has been a very good choice from all the wonderful things the vice-president has been doing,” he said.

There had been reports in the newspapers that Mr. Tinubu, according to the book, accused some leading figures in the APC to have worked against his emergence as Mr. Buhari’s running mate.

Senate President Bukola Saraki and Nasir el-Rufai, Kaduna state governor, featured prominently in the names allegedly mentioned by the
APC stalwart.

Reacting to the reports, Mr. Rahman said Mr. Tinubu was serially quoted out of context in the newspaper reports, adding that readers should carefully read through his principal’s submission in the book.

“The account of what transpired as told by Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the book and as presented in some newspapers is not about him losing the vice-presidency and the eventual vice-president (Yemi Osinbajo) emerging, as the reviewer has put it,” he said.

Commenting further, he said, “Asiwaju spoke in greater context in that book, and when people are making comments, they should speak with the context in which he spoke.

“If they are saying that Asiwaju lost the vice-presidency and that a vice-president emerged, where did he emerge from? Who nominated the vice-president?

“I’d like to say that even the vice-president has said on some occasions that a certain political leader from the south-west nominated him for the job and we all know who that is,” Mr. Rahman
said.

A gunman has shot dead a young man at a car wash centre located along Sam Ewang Estate, Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.

The suspect alleged that the fuel tanker the man was working with blocked his path.

A witness said the killer brought his Sienna car to the car wash, and on completion of the wash, approached the man to look for the truck driver to remove the fuel tanker from where it was parked.

The trailer, registration number TTD 456XA with inscription NIPCO, was also brought to the car wash centre for washing, and parked opposite the centre, awaiting when there would be a parking space.

The‎ driver was said to have taken a stroll within the vicinity, when the gunman approached the man sitting inside the truck.

The man, identified as Aro, was said to be pacifying the suspect, who subsequently pulled out a gun and shot the him at close range resulting in instant death.

The development caused pandemonium at the car wash centre, as people took to their heels, while the gunman manoeuvred his way and escaped with his car.

When contacted, Ogun State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the command was going to commence forensic investigation into the murder.

“It is true, the Commissioner of Police has ordered that forensic investigation be carried out. He has also directed that homicide section of the state investigation and intelligence department should take over the case for proper investigation with the view of bringing the culprit to justice,” Mr. Oyeyemi stated.

One mistake some entertainers make is that they try to copy the westerners, forgetting that you can never be better than them at their game. “Discovery of talent is mostly through hunger though I won’t say that’s what led me to find myself. I have always known my gift and I worked towards cultivating it. I used to play drums and I was even a DJ at some point. I was also a rapper and I enjoyed them all. But when I began doing comedy, I realised that it is what I really love.”
