WEST HAM 3-2 MANCHESTER UNITED:
HAMMERS DENT VAN GAAL'S TOP FOUR
HOPES IN DRAMATIC FAREWELL
The Hammers fans were treated to a thrilling
finale at the Boleyn Ground on Tuesday after late
goals saw their side come from behind and dent
United's Champions League ambitions
Manchester United's hopes of a top-four finish took a hit
on Tuesday as they were beaten 3-2 by West Ham in the
final match to be played at Upton Park.
Diafra Sakho put the Hammers ahead on 10 minutes when
he found the bottom corner from inside the area after
good combination play down the left-wing by Aaron
Cresswell and Manuel Lanzini.
Euro 2016 hopeful Andy Carroll had a golden opportunity
to put West Ham two ahead but missed his one-on-one
after being put through on goal.
Moments later, Michail Antonio had the ball in the back of
the United net but his celebrations were cut short after the
linesman ruled the cross had gone out of play.
A long kick downfield by David de Gea eventually found
Juan Mata on the right of the box, whose early ball across
allowed Anthony Martial to tap in an equaliser from close
range on 50 minutes.
The French forward found the back of the net for the
second time on 71 minutes, tucking in his shot at the near-
post after rounding Antonio.
But the former Nottingham Forest winger made amends
minutes later, heading past De Gea after Dimitri Payet's
free-kick was blocked at the first attempt.
With 10 minutes to go, West Ham went ahead for the final
time as Winston Reid headed in Payet's cross to send the
jubilant Hammers fans home happy.
