The Nasarawa State Government says it would soon commence payment of deceased pensioners of the 13 Local Government Areas of the state.
The dead pensioners will cover from July 1997 to July 2011 after which their names would be expunged from the pension roll.
The state’s Commissioner of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon Haruna Osegba stated this, in Lafia, on Thursday, after the state joint allocation meeting with the 13 Local Government chairmen.
He said the meeting resolved to set aside N160 million separate from the monthly funds released for pensions.
The Commissioner revealed that the 13 Local Government Areas of the state shared a total amount of N896,899,470,52 million as allocation for the month of February.
The figures was N32,337,705,0 million higher than the one shared in the previous month.
He explained that the improvement in allocation was as a result of increase in revenue generation from the local government from N620 million to N836 million.
Hon Osegba explained local government who get 70% to pay salaries last month got 72% to pay this month salaries, those who got 60%, now get 62%, 45% to 50% respectively.
