The President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government has been urged to show more sincerity in tackling the multifarious socio-ethnic and ecnomic problems confronting the country if Nigeria is to get out of the current dilemma confronting her.
This advise was given, weekend, by Diocesan of Igbogbo Missionary Diocese of the Church of the L|ord, Bishop Olafimihan Adekoya, during the 017 Diocese Conference & Lecture of the Church held at Ikorodu, Lagos.
Bishop Adekoya, who maintained that the problem with Nigeria currently is more spiritual than physical, urged president Buhari not to turn his back to supposed evil being perpetrated by peope of his clan, and come down hard on people doing similar thing from other clans in the country.
Said he, “The President is ding a great job in trying to clean the system of bad habits. But it is not good for the country for him to turn his face away from what affects people of his clan. Corruption must be fought in totality, not with bias.”
Liking Nigeria to the days of King Pharaoh of Egypt, Bishop Adekoya maintained that God will still give Nigeria a second chance of survival and restoration, but urged religious and political leaders to be prepared to sacrifice for the growth of the nation.
Delivering a lecture on the topic, “Christianity in Time Like his: The Challenges and The Solutions” at the conference, Pastor Gbenya Oluyemi of the Still Waters Church, Lekki in Lagos was of the opinion that Nigeria as a nation and her people misplaced their priorities at the time of boom, hence the current problems facing the nation.
Pastor Oluyemi, who frowned at the activities of some Church leaders involved in the looting of the country, believed that for individual Nigerians to et out of the economic crisis, they must re-direct their priorities and cut wastages in their spending.
