Jigawa police decry increasing r‎ape of minors

Rape cases of minors is on the increase in Jigawa‎ as no fewer than 10 incidences involving their victims were reported to the state Police command, says Commissioner of Police, Rasheed Akintunde.

Disclosing this, on Monday, in a monthly press briefing by the police boss,  warned that the main crime being perpetuated in the state is rape involving minors.

The police boss admonished the state Ulamas, community and traditional rulers, parents and guardians to embark on campaign against rape and at the same time educate the people on the implications of the menace on the society.

The police commissioner who paraded some of the arrested criminals that committed the acts within the month of February assured that they would all be charged to court respectively.

‎Two sisters, 12 and 13 years of age who fell victims of the act were said to be lured by nine hefty men whom took turns in  their dastardly acts on the girls before they were arrested at Yankwashi local government area of Jigawa state.
