Barring last minute changes, Acting President Professor Yemi Osinbajo is expected to arrive in Edo State on an official visit to Governor Godwin Obaseki, on Monday.
This was revealed by Obaseki’s close aide, Gloria Adagbon, who said in a brief statement that Osinbajo was visiting Edo State “in continuation with his engagement and consultation with the Niger Delta”.
According to her, the itinerary of the acting president goes thus: “Governor Obaseki will receive His Excellency, Ag. President Osinbajo at the Airport and thereafter they will proceed to the Oba Palace to see the Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II.
“Furthermore, Ag. President shall hold stakeholders meeting to engage the oil producing communities in Edo State.”
This is yet another visit by Osinbajo to a Niger-Delta state. He has been touring the oil-rich Niger Delta region since February, much to the appreciation of Nigerians.
Just last week Osinbajo was in Akwa Ibom, where he was even conferred with a Chieftaincy title; the “Obong Emem Ibom”, by state traditional rulers during his visit to the state on Thursday, March 2.
