Buhari Will not Resign, so Just Pray He Gets Well – Presidency

Buhari will not resign

The Presidency, on Friday said President Muhammadu Buhari will not resign despite calls by some people that he stepped down to attend to his ailing health.

Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina told journalists in Lagos that though those calling for Buhari’s resignation have the right to do so as it was merely their opinion. He, however, said their opinion is nothing compared to those of the 15 million people that voted for the president.

According to the Punch, Adesina said instead of asking the President to resign, Nigerians should pray that his health is fully restored.

Buhari’s absence from public events has fueled speculations that he may have suffered a relapse from the undisclosed ailment he spent weeks treating in the United Kingdom.

Yesterday, another of the President’s spokesperson, Garba Shehu, said Buhari is following his doctors’ advice to take things slowly.

Well, it is an opinion, but don’t forget that about 15 million people elected the president so if one or two people expressed their opinion, will their opinions override that of 15 million people who voted for him? So those who are expressing their opinions have rights to their opinions,” Adesina said.

Yesterday there was still a press briefing saying there is no need for apprehension. God spared the president. In the first place, he said he had never been as sick as he was before, the same God that spared him will also ensure that he returns to full health. Nigerians prayed; God answered. Nigerians are still praying, God will still answer. That is all we believe.”
