Kevin Gates has been sentenced to 30 months in jail for a weapon-related charge.
According to Billboard, the ‘2 Phones’ rapper pleaded to a felony gun charge after his bail was denied earlier this month, and yesterday was sentence to prison again, this time for 30 months.
This huge blow comes just a month after the rapper was re-arrested after serving 180 days in prison for kicking a female fan in the chest during a 2015 concert. Recall that on the day of his supposed released, officers found that he had a gun charge pending and immediately threw him back into jail.
Yesterday, the judge found him guilty of the felony gun charge, and that was how the rapper bagged some more jail time.
In a related event yesterday, rapper Kodak Black was also been found guilty of violating his house arrest.
In case you missed it, in February, the 19-year-old rapper was arrested in Florida for violating the terms of his house arrest. He reportedly had gone on trips without the approval of the court and also failed his anger management test.
The rapper’s troubles started last September after he was sentenced for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. He was released in November and like Kevin Gates, was thrown back in jail, this time for criminal s3xual conduct.
He was however released on bail in December, before breaking the law again in February.
Black will be sentenced on May 4th. TMZ reports that he may get up to 8 years in prison this time around.
