JAY-Z’s new album 4:44 became his 14th No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 album chart Sunday, less than two weeks after it went instantly platinum thanks to an exclusive deal between Tidal and Sprint.
According to Nielsen Music, in the week ending July 13, the set earned 262,000 equivalent album units – a larger-than-initially-expected sum, and the fourth-largest week of 2017 for any album. Of its total, 174,000 units were in traditional album sales.
Second comes 21 Savage with Issa Album. The project pushed 77,000 equivalents. Also this week, Kendrick Lamar holds at No. 3 for a fourth week straight with DAMN.; DJ Khaled, whose Grateful was No. 1 for the last two weeks fell to No. 4; and Ed Sheeran’s Divide holds at No. 5.
