Ruggedman and many more artistes are finally reacting to the news of the ban on music produced abroad.
In case you missed all the drama: information minister, Lai Mohammed, revealed plans to ban artistes, including filmmakers and singers, from producing their works abroad during his meeting with the officials of the Copyright Society of Nigeria (COSON).
The minister cited the Big Brother Naija show which was shot in South Africa, and added that such ventures negatively affect the economy.
“This government has agreed that henceforth, whatever we consume in Nigeria in terms of music and films, must be made in Nigeria,” he said. “We cannot continue to go to South Africa or any other country to produce our films and then send them back to be consumed in Nigeria.”
Reacting to the news, the Okoye brothers – Peter and Jude – earlier called out the federal government for ignoring the fact that children of power figures school abroad, plus the fact that politicians still troop abroad for medical attention.
“You people are the ones refusing to fix our health facilities so u travel out when mosquito bite una. So why tell us where to record when u can’t provide uninterrupted power here in Nigeria. Sometime I wonder how we got it all wrong. Una children when dey sch for abroad na which money una dey use patronize them? Abeg stfu!” Jude Okoye said on his Instagram.
Now, other artistes, and upset Nigerians, are dragging the minister and the federal government.

@GEJonathan gave Nollywood a grant of $200 million and wasn't a London resident. Lai Mohammed, think of this before threatening Nollywood!
