The teaser, which features Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller,’ shows the expansion of the Upside Down
The show’s season 2 trailer, partly set to a remix of Michael Jackson’s “Thriller,” premiered at Comic-Con International on Saturday and sees Will facing a massive new, spider-like monster before Mike (Finn Wolfhard) snaps him out of the nightmare.
“Will!” Mike yells. “Are you okay?” The answer? No, not at all — although Schnapp did say at the panel that “compared to last season, Will definitely shows more bravery.”
The teaser also includes a look at Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), who was left in the Upside Down at the end of season 1 but has found a way to the real world by the trailer’s end. It concludes with the sound of terrifying, menacing laughter.
Although the Stranger Things team didn’t reveal too much about the upcoming season at the panel, they did bring out some special guests: New cast members Dacre Montgomery, Sadie Sink, and Paul Reiser were all in attendance — along with recent Emmy nominee Shannon Purser, a.k.a. Barb, who showed up to ask if the fan-favorite character would be in season 2.
When moderator Patton Oswalt asked if Reiser’s character was a villain, the actor stayed quiet. “I won’t say,” he responded.
See for yourself when Stranger Things returns to Netflix for season 2 on Oct. 27. See the trailer above.
