Toke Makinwa has finally spoken up since the drama surrounding her invitation to lecture at the New York University.
She revealed that she had been invited to lecture at the university. Some students of the university requested details to enable them attend the lecture, but it all degenerated into a messy drama after the OAP referred them to a certain Lilian Ajayi-Ore, a lecturer at the university, who clarified that it was a “closed event”. Many people questioned the authenticity of the scheduled lecture.
However, Makinwa later shared photos of the event on her Instagram story, and now she has posted an elaborated response on Instagram, revealing that not only was it a successful outing, the NYU students also realised how much she was trolled in Nigeria, and the negative criticism gave her a practical example to illustrate with.
“The students checked me out online and found out I was trending and it led to questions about dealing with negative feedback from customers and how to deal with the not so great comments, and it was nice to use a practical example,” said Makinwa.
The media personality continues to face intense criticism since publishing her first book, On Becoming. While she continues to battle her ex, Maje Ayida, who accused her of slandering him in the memoir, Toke Makinwa says she remains unfazed.
“I pray my life inspires someone out there to be BOLD in the face of storms, I hope you take a chance and live unapologetically,” she said.
