Diddy Debuts Bad Boy Documentary Trailer At 2017 BBMAs | Watch

Sean “Diddy” Combs made a surprise appearance at the 2017 Billboard Music Awards last night in Las Vegas, on what would have been The Notorious B.I.G.’s 45th birthday. The flagship artist of Diddy’s Bad Boy Records was killed 20 years ago this March, just weeks before the release of his soph0m0re album, Life After Death.

“It all started with the Notorious B.I.G.,” Diddy said, referencing Bad Boy’s creation and its 500 million albums sold over the past 20-plus years. “Big sold over 25 million records worldwide; his Ready to Die album, his Life After Death album, classics… Biggie was the best rapper I ever had the chance to work with. Watching him and seeing him work is something that words can’t explain.”

Diddy also used the occasion to premier the trailer for Can’t Stop Won’t Stop, a documentary about pioneering hip-hop/R&B label Bad Boy Records. The doc, directed by Daniel Kaufman and produced by Live Nation, recently had a star-studded premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival. It will be released via Apple Music on June 25.

The film serves as a look at the history behind Bad Boy Records through the lens of Sean Combs as he rounded up the troops of the Bad Boy family in preparations for the label’s 20th anniversary reunion tour in a behind-the-scenes format that takes a comprehensive look at Bad Boy’s influence through the years.

“I knew this was a story that should be shared with the world. Heather Parry and Live Nation Productions, and Director Daniel Kaufman, helped create this very special documentary,” Diddy states. “Now I’m blessed to also be working with Apple Music to showcase the film and share Bad Boy’s history and impact with fans. The support Live Nation, Apple Music and everyone on the team has given to this project is a true testament to the Bad Boy legacy.”
