Many Trapped as 3-Storey Building Collapses in Lagos

A building collapse involving a three-storey building under construction in the Ilasa area of Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria, occurred on Thursday, and many people  are feared trapped in the debris.

It is understood that the building gave in around 2:30 pm on Thursday and rescue workers are already on the site in a desperate bid to rescue the trapped victims.

This latest building collapse has been confirmed by the Director, Lagos State Fire Service, Rasak Fadipe, who in a chat with PM News said his men were working hard to contain the situation at Richard Abimbola Street, Ilasa.

Fadipe assured that those still trapped in the debris will be rescued.

The incident comes two weeks after another building collapse, where a two-storey building under construction in the Lekki area of Lagos collapsed, killing two people and prompting the state government to seal off the site until evidence of building approval was provided.

This is breaking news, we’ll provide updates as they unfold…
