Uche Onyeaguocha, chieftain of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) on Wednesday slammed Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha for allegedly plotting to install his son-in-law as next Governor of the State.
The disagreement was based on the zone that would produce the next governor of the state in 2019.
The drama ensued when when Onyeaguocha openly alleged that Okorocha was plotting to install his son in-law, Uche Nwosu as his successor at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), secretariat, during the 2017 World Press Freedom Day, got many in attendance talking.
“There is a big issue in Imo state and that is which of the zones will produce the next governor of Imo state”, Vanguard quoted Onyeaguocha as saying.
“The governor said there is nothing like zoning; why is it that his deputy is from another zone and the Speaker of Imo House of Assembly from another zone?”
Okorocha later attempted to calm nerves, maintaining that the state leadership and stakeholders will meet and decide before the next governorship election.
