Don advocates capital punishment to end religion crisis in Nigeria

From: Sola Ojo, Kaduna

A lecturer with Kaduna State University, Mallam Halidu Muhammed, has suggested capital punishment through religion alliance as ultimate solution to ethno-religious crisis in Nigeria.

The Senior lecturer at the department of Political Science told Daily Sun in an exclusive chart that, once the two major religions which are Christianity and Islam can have a group of credible leaders who will come together, form an alliance and ready to implement their resolve to the letter, the senseless killings and wanton destruction of property usually associated with religion will seize.

He belief that, God did not make a mistake by creating Nigeria the way it is with hundreds of ethnic nationalities and religions with Christianity and Islam topping the list, hence the need to be tolerance by one another and allow justice to take its course.

He said, “if we can have some religion alliance like Muslims have a group of people, Christians also have a group of people and these two groups agreed to come together and enter into alliance, then they make law for themselves and abide by it.

“For instance, you can imagine where a particular religion will enter a community which has few number of opposite religion and stated killing innocent both old, young, women and children, maim some and even bury some alive and at the end of the day nobody will be arrested and prosecuted because they are not “known”.

“It is barbaric. This certainly not for this era. We don’t need all that in this century. So we need organization of this nature so we can collectively solve this problem by ourselves. God has in His wisdom that much higher than man created us the it pleases Him. So, are we to question God?

“Then, anybody whether a Christian or a Muslim who cause problem within any community and caught should be brought before that alliance or organization where a very strict penalty which could even be punitive measure like tying such a fellow and shot him or her if that is what the alliance agreed upon. By the time about ten confirmed criminals are shot in this manner, then we can curb this senseless killings in Nigeria”, he said.
