Babcock University, Ilishan-Remo, Ogun State, has for the second time, emerged the best performing school in the 2016 Law School examination results, released recently.

Briefing journalists on the university’s campus, the President/Vice-Chancellor the faith-based institution, Prof. Ademola Tayo, described the feat as the grace of God and strong commitment by the school management, member staff, parents and the students who always comport themselves throughout their studies.

He expressed delight that from the 45 universities in Nigeria that sat for the last examination at Law School, Babcock gave others a clear distance, saying it was a revelation of the level of dedication of the staff of the faculty to ensure that the institution gave the best to its students.

The university that graduated and inducted its first set of medical doctors, recently, added another feather to its cap, in the 2016 Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) examination, when 38 students among those that graduated a year ago from Babcock were qualified to practise as chartered accountants. Prof Tayo announced that Babcock was also nominated for the Global Brand Award – based in England. According to him, the university was recognised in the education category in Africa.

On the award, the VC said it meant so much to the school, saying it was a fact that people recognise that Babcock was doing its best to impact on its community. He remarked that it was a clarion call for the institution to move forward, pledging that the school would do everything possible not to go below the public’s perception about the university. He added that he would prefer to consider the recognition as a challenge rather than a celebration.

On the students’ outstanding performance at the Law School, the Provost and Dean, School of Law and Security Studies, Emeritus Prof. Isaac Agbede, said the institution did not only teach law, but security studies, adding that the school was innovation-driven.
