From: Rose Ejembi, Makurdi.

The Benue State House of Assembly has passed the 2016 Supplementary Appropriation bill of N3. 8 billion submitted to it by Governor Samuel Ortom, last December.

The bill was made up of N1.8 billion as Supplementary Recurrent Expenditure and N2 billion Supplementary Capital Expenditure even as the revised Supplementary Expenditure for the 2016 budget stands at N68.4 billion and N86.1billion as the revised Capital Expenditure thereby bringing the revised total budget to N145. 5billion.

Speaker, Benue State House of Assembly, Mr. Terkimbi Ikyange, announced the passage after a clause-by-clause consideration of the report of the House Standing Committee of Appropriation on the 2016 Supplementary Budget in the Committee of Supply.

Ikyange also directed the House Committee on Finance to liase with Ministry of Finance, Accountant General and the Board of Internal Revenue Service to address complaints of delayed remittance of the mandatory 75 percent to revenue generating MDAs.

Earlier in a lead debate, Chairman, House Standing Committee on Appropriation, Barr. Adam Okloho, said there was extra budgetary spending of Recurrent Expenditure in most of the MDAS captured in the Supplementary budget sent to the House and urged the Assembly to pass the Supplementary appropriation.
