Jigawa NSCDC nabs 5 cattle rustlers, 200 cattle

From: Ahmed Abubakar, Dutse

The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested five cattle rustlers with over 200 cows in the custody of one of the criminals in Jigawa State.

Making the disclosure, on Tuesday, the state Commandant‎, Muhammadu Abdu Durumin Iya, told journalists that notable amongst the arrest was a notorious cattle thieve by name, Abdullahi Isa, popularly known as Titi.

He said the nabbed criminal, whom has defied all attempts to be arrested, is known for his age-long habit of stealing cows from unsuspecting herdsmen that also doubles as an armed robber‎ in the state.

The Commandant also said that the corps has uncovered a traditional ruler from Dutse, said to be aiding and abetting the rustlers.

‎The Commandant blamed the flamboyant life style of some people as one of the reasons that encouraged cattle rustling in the area, stressing that the menace has drastically reduced compared to years back.
