Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has arrived the Kaduna State on a one-day working visit to the state. Obasanjo was received by Governor Nasir el-Rufai on arrival at the Kaduna International Airport
Obasanjo is in the state to chair a seminar heralding the 38th Kaduna International Trade Fair.
The former president was received at the Kaduna International Airport by Governor el-Rufai and members of his cabinet.
Speaking at the seminar, Obasanjo stated that the synergy between the public and private sector in Nigeria has improved.
On his part, Governor el-Rufai talked about planning, citizenship and Public Private Partnership (PPP) in Kaduna.
His words: ‘’Our Government started by doing a 5 year Development plan. Planning is essential for development. In Kaduna state, we have no indigenes or settlers, everyone resident here is a citizen.
‘’Sadly, it had become fashionable to use Religion or Ethnicity to negotiate for everything. My deputy and I decided when we came to office that this has to stop. Kaduna will recognise everyone regardless of religion or ethnicity.
‘’ This is the reason we are facing a lot of resistance. The conflict entrepreneurs are using the jobless youths to cause problems.
‘’Everyone is a settler, depending on how many years back you go. We pray that our young people resist ethnic bigotry and Religious conflicts.’’
Former minister of finance and national planning, Dr Shamsudeen Usman gave a presentation at the seminar titled: Promoting PPPs as Pancea for Accelerated Growth & Development
