Stop making incisive comments, DSS warns Apostle Suleiman

From Romanus Ugwu, Abuja

The Department of State Services (DSS) may have warned the President of Omega Fire Ministries, Apostle John Suleiman, to stop further incisive comments that might threaten public peace.

The clergyman honored a DSS’ invitation in Abuja on Monday where he was interrogated.

A source at the DSS headquarters in Abuja told Daily Sun in confidence that after the interrogation that lasted about two hours. the pastor was told to “ceasefire”.

According to the source, “the Service doesn’t intend to extend fresh invitation to Apostle Suleiman after the interrogation on Monday. He took time to explain, as demanded, why a man of God with such large followership should constantly be inciting the public with such preaching.

“The Service also directed him to strongly refrain from such preaching that would fan the embers of discord among Nigerians or incite the public against government. He was discharged and told ‘to sin no more’ as the Holy Bible will say. The good thing is that he is also committed to doing things differently, especially preaching that would look offensive.

“He was told to join hands in bringing lasting peace to the country through his preaching since his large followership cuts across ethnic and religious divide, including Muslim faithful. He has also agreed to use his large network, positively, in building the bridge of peace and unity,” our source said.

The media aide to Apostle Suleiman, Phrank Shaibu, said the grilling was a peaceful interaction, stressing that the DSS applied the highest decorum and professionalism while the interrogation lasted.

“The interrogation proper lasted just over an hour while the greater part of the invitation was used in exchanging pleasantries. I can tell you that the DSS were very professional in handling him,” he said.

Apostle Suleiman reportedly arrived headquarters of the DSS few minutes after 8.00pm to honour the invitation over his persistent incisive preaching.
