Why I sacked commissioners – Al-Makura

From: Linus Oota, Lafia

Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura of Nasarawa State has explained that he reshuffled his cabinet to strengthen the government and prepare his exit in 2019.

He further explained that the sacked commissioners did not commit any offence and performed creditably well but they need to pave way for others to also contribute their quota to the development of the state.

The governor gave this clarification yesterday in government house, Lafia, while playing host to a delegation of stakeholders from Nasarawa West senatorial district led by senator Abdullahi-Adamu.

According to him “commissioners who were affected by recent cabinet reshuffle did not commit any thing wrong, we did that to strengthen government and prepare our exit plan, left with me alone, would have allow them to serve throughout the tenure, but there must be a sense of belonging to everybody”

Governor Almakura promised to liaise with the federal Inland waterways to construct a model transportation system in the western senatorial district whose major settlements are dominated by waterside.

He said the activities of vandals are hindering constant water supply in the area, adding that the state government is taking a special approach through a task force team that would be stationed in Keffi-Akwanga areas to monitor the pipes against the Vandals.

The governor promised to construct a brand new Road from Lafia to Keffi to enable people from Nasarawa Eggon, Karu and Toto areas to travel to Lafia within 45 minutes.

Speaking earlier, Senator representing Nasarawa West senatorial district Abdullahi-Adamu, who led the delegation said they were in government house to pledge their loyalty and support to the Almakura led administration in the state.

He thank the governor for appointing six commissioners and the secretary to the state government (SSG), among other key appointment from the zone.

Those who accompanied senator Adamu on the visit include the speaker of the assembly Hon Balararabe Abdulahi, all members of the House of Representatives and state House of Assembly from the zone, the state APC chairman Hon Philip Tatari, a gubernatorial aspirant Hon Aliyu Wadada among other stakeholders.
