Olajumoke Orisaguna’s Fans Force South African Mag to Change ‘Insensitive’ Caption

The Sowetan has finally made amendment to their story on Olajumoke Orisaguna following outrage by Nigerians who were displeased with the title they say was insensitive.

The drama started yesterday after the bread-seller-turned-model

shared a screenshot of her feature in the popular magazine in which she was referred to as a ‘dirt-poor’ woman who rose to the spotlight after photobombing TY Bello’s photoshoot.

While some Nigerians congratulated the model on her latest feat, others took offense at the wording of the title, insisting that the model’s extremely poor beginning should not have been sensationalised.

That letter heading is too harsh nd bad, am sure if she was dirty by den u cnt see the real beauty dat portrait the role to be a model in her, why cnt u just rephrase the word ‘dirty’,” said one Instagrammer @yelewealth who misread the headline.

Another added, @teedeemusic added, “I agree I don’t like the use of the word ‘dirt poor’ it connotes laziness, ignorance n mindless poverty. She was a hard-working woman… (Still is) Not trailer trash….

Seeing the outrage the post stirred, Olajumoke decided to school some of her fans on what the title actually meant:
