Provost, College of Education Akwanga, Dr. (Mrs.) Rebecca Isaac Umaru, has warned that the institution would not tolerate hooliganism and other vices capable of tarnishing the image of the institution.
She maintained that any recalcitrant student risk dismissal from the school.
Dr. Umaru who stated this, on Tuesday, during the college’s 2016/2017 matriculation programme, in Akwanga, noted that the institution was determined to ensure qualitative education for its students and availability of conducive environment for learning and teaching.
According to her: “We are aware that students are involved in vices like drug addiction, alcoholism, indecent dressing, examination malpractice, sexual harassment, cultism, thuggery, stealing, gossiping among others. These vices, as we are anti-progress
“The authorities/management of the institution will not tolerate the perpetration of these evils and perpetrators, if caught or identified will be seriously dealt with. For the purpose of emphasis, anyone found to be dismissed from the institution, but handed to the police for necessary disciplinary actions”
She advice the students to always seek clarification from relevant head of department/lectures, so as to avoid any costly mistake that may affect their academics and urged the students to be ambassadors of the collage.
The Provost equally announce the ban of handouts and direct lecturers to go for lectures regularly and promptly while students are to write their assignments and other academic activities regularly.
A total number of 4,150 students were matriculated into various department of the institution with a charge to remain peaceful and loving, adding that the collage is a teacher training institution and as such, the tenets of teaching is highly valued and pursued.
