BREAKING: Germany into Confederations Cup final following defeat of Mexico

– Leon Goretzka scored twice within the first eight minutes to put Germany ahead

– RB Leipzig frontman Timo Werner scored a third early in the second half

– Germany play Chile in the final while Mexico face Portugal in a third place match Germany have qualified for the final of the 2017 Confederations Cup final following a win over Gold Cup winners Mexico.

A double from Leon Goretzka was all Joachim Low’s side needed to secure the 4 – 1 win.

The reigning World Cup winners came out firing early in the game. Leon Goretzka opened the scoring in the 6th minute when he was found in space by Draxler with Ochoa unable to save a attempt.

The reigning World Cup winners doubled their lead just two minutes later through Goretzka when he picked up Timo Werner’s pass to slid the ball into the net.

Mexico improved as the game went on; Javier Hernandez unlucky to see his lob over Marc Ter-Stegen go just over the bar after he created space for himself.

In the second half, Timo Werner thought he would win a penalty when he was pushed in the area by Hector Moreno but the referee looked away after the striker got his shot away.

Raul Jimenez did well to create space from the right and cut onto his right foot but his attempt was straight at Ter Stegen.

Timo Werner made it three when he was picked up in the box by left-back Jonas Hector with no one closing the former down.

Fabian pulled one back for Mexico with a stunning effort from outside the box which is definately a contender ofr goal of the tournament.

With Mexico committing more men forward, Germany broke forward and scored when Emre Can found Younes on the left.

The Ajax man shooting past Ochoa with a left footed effort. Germany will now face Chile in the final while Mexico will face Portugal in a third place match.
