Henry Onyekuru Snubs Arsenal, Completes £6.8m Switch to Everton

Premier League side Everton have completed the signing of Nigerian striking sensation Henry Onyekuru from Belgian outfit K.A.S. Eupen.

This comes after widespread reports last month that the 19-year-old forward had signed for Arsenal after the Gunners triggered his £6.8m release clause.

Onyekuru was in breathtaking form last season where he finished as the top scorer in Belgium’s Jupiler Liga, and reportedly turned down moves from Belgian giants Brugge and Anderlecht.

He netted an impressive 25 goals and provided 14 assists for Eupen last season to effectively bring down the curtain on his time in the European lower leagues.

Following his impressive displays, the Toffees have moved to beat their Premier League rivalsto his signature as they bolster their attacking line.

Reports coming out of the UK claim the pacy attacker had undergone a medical at Everton’s Finch Farm training base on Monday and agreed personal terms after his release clause was met.

It is however understood that despite his move to Goodison Park, he will spend next season on loan at Anderlecht over issues relating to work permit before he takes to the field as an Everton player.

Onyekuru did not feature as the Super Eagles lost 2-0 to South Africa in a 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier earlier this month.
