Cristiano Ronaldo is basking in the euphoria of Real Madrid’s historic Champions League win over Juventus on Saturday, and to drive the point home, he emerged Sunday with a brutal new haircut.
Ronaldo, 32, netted twice as Los Blancos completed a memorable Liga and Copa double at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff and has been leading the celebrations of ‘Dodecima’ in the Spanish capital.
And as the accolades continue to pour in, the preening Portuguese has taken time to explain the reason he ditched his flowing locks in favour of a short back and sides, Mirror writes.
On an interview on Real Madrid TV, the 32-year-old said: “It was a promise. I’d promised that, if we won the Champions League and I scored a goal, I’d do it. I did it and I shaved myself.
“I always try to do my best for the team and things are going well. The truth is that the numbers don’t lie. You can always count on me.”
His second goal in the final against Juventus was his 600th career goal for club and country, but the former Manchester United winger has clarified the debate regarding his position, saying he will never be the main striker.
“People think I’m front. I will never be front,” said Ronaldo to La s3xta show ‘Jugones’. “I have made almost 600 goals playing in the position I play, why change.”
Ronaldo has experienced phenomenal success over the past year, and will look to add to his glittering collection of silverware when Portugal compete in the Fifa Confederations Cup in Russia later this month.
